Well, still trucking along with seocontestant.com. All looks good, with a month to go the site is still at #1 for the retsambew dash klat for charity keyword. Maybe it’ll win, who knows. Would be interesting, as seocontestant.com still has way fewer backlinks than most of the sites. I guess quality over quantity? I dunno, the site did go PR5 last update (higher than anyone else)…

Doing pretty good still in the retsambew dash klat for charity seo contest, can’t complain. Looks like a pretty solid 2nd place right now after some link building last week. Gonna need more linking power though it seems. A quick glance at the backlinks seem to show that most of the other sites have more links that me, but it’s all good it seems. Maybe there is alittle truth behind getting relevant links above all else and maybe - just maybe - on page optimization is still alive.

Things are going as expected for my retsambew dash klat for charity contest page. I did some more link building today, both for this site and the main site. The contest has gotten tougher, I’ve been bouncing around #2 - #4 for a while but I held #1 for the first few weeks. I guess it goes to show you that link building still caries more weight than on page SEO, although I’ve ahead of many sites with many more links.

I expect things will heat up near the end, I’ve got no master plan for running up the rankings near the end, slow and steady is pretty much the only way I’ll go. Some folks, I’m sure, are planning to Google bomb their way to the top with co-op or some other link building schemes. We’ll just have to hold on and see what goes.

I’m pretty sure I’ll nail a top 5 at least, although I wouldn’t be happy with anything other than #1.

This contest is alittle different than your typical webmaster showdowns, namely that the domain must be new as of the contest date and nobody is scrambling to make a ton of keyword-stuffed-domain-names-with-the-retsambew-dash-klat-for-Charity-stuffed-in-them. Same thing goes for subdomains, that’s a no go as well. Another thing that sets this seo contest appart is that a link back to the Webmaster-Talk website is not required, only a link to a charity of choice. This is a classy move on their part, the retsambew charity link is an admirable thing and I hope this will set the bar high and compete with all the press the V7N contest recieved.

All in all, this retsambew dash klat for Charity contest will be interesting. We’ll see how things shape up.
